I experienced myself becoming a kid, yet once more- while
watching the circus. Circus used to be a charm in my yester years and my parents
never forgot to open doors of this life to both the kids, year on year.
Though the no. of animals and their antics has become much
lower due to stronger animal rights, the no. of acrobatics has increased.
Audience still more interested in seeing performances by female gymnasts, as
usual. The use of clowns and dwarfs as fillers and humour continue to be the
same.
Circus is a beautiful depiction of life- On screen. The
trust on one’s capability, the faith on group work and desire to achieve
certain outcome. While the off-screen life looks difficult for the circus team.
Sustaining with meagre ticket rentals and meeting the needs of a big herd of
people and animals, managing without technology, accounting for capital item’s
wear and tear- cant be kept aside. Life would be difficult as vagabonds,
limited income, inter group clashes and many aspects which we can’t fathom.
All said - it was a
value for money and light moments, bated breaths and innocent fun.
