English Vinglish

This is one movie, which i should have seen in theatre and realised it after seeing the TV version of the same. It has lots to correlate especially because as a student of the foreign language “French”- there were many plots to identify with. The coming together of multiple people from diverse aspects of life like students, college goers, novice professionals, experienced professionals and ladies who are back at home. Everyone comes with a different reason for investment- some talk about career, some feel it is good time pass, others feel that it is a chance to reclaim their lost identity and for some it’s about learning and exposure. Motives different but same goal, intensity different but thoughts alike. Teachers taking their time to adjust to the diametric groups of the class. Coteries getting formed basis likings, within the same group. Similar pressure experienced during exams, everyone trying to build up in their own way, some focussing on individual attempts, some taking up group learning. The book reviews, the extempore and times when teachers reprimanded for not being in sync. Missing classes for some snacks and enjoying at the tapri and reserving seats for the chosen few. The mischiefs, days of silence, the silent attractions- all enjoyable.

While the movie brought all of this in good memory but also dint falter in bringing nitty gritties of life, to light. The pain that people go through for not being able to understand one language, the advantage that people take over them and talk rubbish, just because they are not aware of one thing. Members being considered waste only because of one disadvantage of theirs. And when people change themselves and their priorities, to match up- still people question the acceptance. The movie was a beautiful and showed a beautiful convergence of life and reality.
